Small Sums Board of Directors

History: Mark Margolis has advocated for the homeless for over 10 years through his synagogue and on the board of a Mpls. shelter for families. He wanted to give them a hand out of poverty so he gathered a group of leaders together and started At Home Group, now Small Sums. After asking workers what is keeping them from working, SS removes the barriers [bus transportation, a uniform, special shoes, etc.] and they are back to work.

Jeff Engelsma, is a part of the Engelsma Family who has owned Kraus-Anderson Companies for over 70 years. Jeff owns and is President of Engelsma Construction.

Joseph Margolis is an electrician with Muska Electric. He is Mark Margolis' son and also a staunch advocate for the homeless.

Kelly Gomez, Treasurer

Kelly has many years of experience preparing financials and taxes for nonprofits. She has worked with At Home Group as an accountant for two years and became a board member in 2011.

Alan Brown, Board Member

Al has kept the "record business" alive. His stores, Cheapo and Applause Music, sell new and used cd’s and records. He has stores in Minnesota and Washington. Al supports SS financially and provides them with free office space.

Katherine Olson has over 30 years of experience managing nonprofits. She is dedicated to the organizations mission of moving the homeless from the streets to self-sufficiency.
