Dear Friends,

As we reflect on the past two years of growth and impact, we express our deep gratitude to Andréa Kish-Bailey, who will be stepping down as Executive Director at the end of this year to pursue her career as a nonprofit consultant with Strategic Consulting & Coaching (SCC).

Under Andréa’s transformative leadership, Small Sums has seen significant growth and innovation. Her dedication has been pivotal in creating a solid foundation for our future, highlighted by the development of a comprehensive three-year strategic plan focused on service excellence, advocacy, organizational strength and growth.

Thanks to Andréa’s leadership, Small Sums has consistently supported more than 1,000 workers annually, ensuring those experiencing homelessness have the resources to secure and sustain employment.

Her work has also led to significant milestones, such as implementing a cloud-based database that enhances client data management and outreach. These improvements have allowed us to respond more effectively to each worker’s unique needs.

Notably, Small Sums earned the prestigious Meets Standards Seal from the Charities Review Council, affirming our commitment to transparency and best practices, and successfully passed our first third-party audit, strengthening trust with our community and stakeholders.

As we reflect on these accomplishments, we are filled with gratitude for our dedicated staff, board members, volunteers and community partners. Together, we are making strides toward a future where every worker has access to the resources they need to succeed. Small Sums remains committed to its mission, and we look forward to continuing this vital work in the years to come.

We are excited to announce that Leika Pierre-Louis, who joined Small Sums in 2023 and brings eight years of experience in public health and direct service, will serve as Interim Director.

Leika’s background and commitment to our mission make her well-suited to lead us through this transition period. The board will share more information on next steps at the beginning of the year. Leika has a rich background in public health and direct service. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Psychology, which reflect her commitment to understanding and supporting the needs of vulnerable populations.

Leika has consistently focused her career on organizations that equip individuals and strengthen communities, embodying a mission of positive social change. As we move forward, we celebrate our shared achievements and look ahead with confidence in the continued success of Small Sums.
